Let’s face it. Even the best of us who manage to juggle stellar careers, kids, and a social life sometimes struggle to put warm vegan food on the dining table. For moments like this, the frozen food aisle at the supermarket is our best friend.

We’re thus proud to announce the 2022 edition of the World’s Best Frozen Food Awards. This year, we’ve expanded the awards selection to cover five regions on top of a global master list: North America, South America, Europe, Asia Pacific, and the Middle East & Africa.

The result is a formidable selection of 30 products that span the global culinary canon – from nuggets to pad thai and even vegan Tekenios – those delectable cheese sticks so loved in Hispanic countries.

Pizzas still dominate the list, as it did last year – but the winning item? Le patatine originali by McCain, a Canadian company with a tagline that “celebrates real connections through delicious, planet-friendly food.” What is this product? It’s the humble but always delicious French fries. This might come as a surprise to many but if you ask us, it reflects a very human deep-seated desire for comfort, particularly during these uncertain Covidian times.

When combing through the reviews to find this year’s winners, we were thrilled at the increase in volume of great opinions on vegan frozen foods. This past year, there was a 2.3 times increase of frozen food reviews compared to last year. We examined over 17,000 reviews from members spread out across 74 different countries.

It is clear that the plant-based movement has been gaining traction across the globe and more food makers are releasing delicious new items to meet the growing demand. According to researchandmarkets.com, the global market for frozen foods is forecasted to grow by US$37.98 billion from 2022 to 2026.

We want you to know that your reviews matter. They not only help us to create taste barometer lists like this one which act as a lighthouse for the rest of the community, but every review created is a dollar earned that can go towards a non-profit partner that is creating a real impact and making the world a better and more sustainable place.

So keep reviewing, keep posting, and keep eating vegan.
