What is it about plant-based burgers that makes them taste so much better than conventional
ones (and no, it's not just the ethics)?! This beetroot-and-bean (I think - might be tempeh instead) patty is AMAZING - thick, rich, finger-licking... It's meaty but doesn't try to imitate meat (unlike, perhaps, the Beyond Burger). Rather, it stands on its own two crispy, moderately-spiced, savoury two feet. I wish I could describe it better but honestly, it's amazing.
The wholemeal bun is crunchy and holds the burger together well, which is a huge win since burgers are so messy for me. The lettuce is a bit disappointing (would rather something more nutritious, like spinach) but the burger is so addictive - in no small part because of the garlicnaise - I can forgive it. The tomato sauce is light but sweet, almost ketchup-y. It's possibly my FAVOURITE thing about this burger. How does one make tomatoes like that?!
Also, a decent portion size. Definitely worth the price!
