Not quite #offthemenu but this seems to be a #special that they’re having for a

bit 🤞 The #guacamole leaves a lot to be desired; It’s sour, discoloured, and the #avocado taste does not come through at all! It’s luckily not the highlight of this dish though, the #salmon is 😋 On the flip side of the mascot on the #vegansalmon is a QR code that links to https://happiee.com, a Singapore-based company that produces #plantbased products! It might be the first time I’ve tried anything by Happiee but I’ve got to say I’m really impressed! The texture of the #fish isn’t quite as flakey as salmon but it’s honestly really impressive. Everyone at the table tried a few bites and loved it! If only I could convince them to #leavethefishinthesea for an extent greater than this meal though 🫢 The #veganfish was marinated in a #teppanyaki style glaze and topped with sesame seeds, really delicious, so paired with the #guac this dish was *screaming* #fusion 🧪 and if not for it being so sour and bastardised this would’ve been a solid recommendation! Funny side note though, this is their portion with half rice 😂 The restaurant ran out of rice and actually wanted us to pick between one rice dish and cancel the other but we opted to have our rice split and as a compensation for “less rice” they actually gave us a vegan chocolate muffin gratis?? Like in what world is a chocolate muffin cheaper than just swapping the rice out for fries 🤣 Anyhow..

A new dish at nomvnom bistro!

Smoky Zalmon Guac Rice features a new (local, I believe?)

brand called Happiee who are the zalmon in the dish, on a bed of sesame seasoned rice, accompanied by in house made guac which paired perfectly with the zalmon and rice through its freshness and coolness, with broccoli and tomatoes for that necessary crunch, juiciness, bite, and fresh veg experience, and a slice of lemon to squeeze over for another necessary element: fresh, tangy, citrus (I love citrus!)…this dish left me with no ordering regrets! 😍 The smokiness of the zalmon (smoked by nomvnom) was subtle but noticeable and well thought out.

The owner, Wai Lek, told me that the zalmon adopts the same or similar string like qualities of fish. Another staff member there likened the zalmon to eating stingray which, not gonna lie, put me off at first because I’ve never eaten animal products in my life, and then I started to imagine eating a stingray, the thought of which made me feel sick…but I get that comparison appeals to some people and it’s my issue, not his 🙈

This was a yummy dish and I’m glad I ordered it! I hope it makes its way on to the main menu…but for now, try it as a special while you can!

I had an iced matcha with soy milk to go with this (no photo) but went with it so well too! Can’t resist that drink.


New rice dish on their menu. Broccoli was great. Guacamole was a bit sweet, not

like how a regular guacamole might taste (I didn’t like it personally). The vegan salmon tastes ok too (I forgot how a real salmon tastes or it texture is, so couldn’t compare how good or close it is with real salmon)
