This Earth Day, we’re supporting ASPCA (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) to #EndFactoryFarming 🐷🐓 Almost 10 billion animals are raised in cruel conditions on U.S. factory farms every year, and it’s severely damaging our environment.

18% of greenhouse gas emissions come from factory farms — more than the exhaust from all cars, trucks, planes, and trains combined!! 🚙🚛✈️🚞 Going plant-based or vegan is kind to our planet.

We support ASPCA and the Farm System Reform Act, a federal legislation that offers a roadmap for a better world for farm animals and our environment. This includes stopping the expansion or construction of large industrial farms, and spending billions of dollars to move farmers away from factory farming to higher-welfare, pasture-based production, or crop-growing. 🌱 Such reforms will also hold factory farms accountable for the harm they cause to local communities.

lol1409 Higher-welfare animal agriculture makes the conversation about veganism (an uphill task already) even harder. Most people just keep looking for ways to justify contributing to something they know is wrong- why care about welfare otherwise?
Go vegan and call for abolition if factory farming bothers you. I know we won't have a vegan world overnight (or ever), but humane slaughter is an oxymoron. Nobody (I hope) would contest that if we said it about humans.

I know most of us on this app care, and it's why we're here. Please go vegan if you aren't. What is stopping you?19 likesReply

lil-chickpea I think sometimes the words used can be triggering to some of us, I feel compelled to speak out after seeing animals like the ones I support in the sanctuaries be referred to as “production” and “free range meat” especially on a vegan app…I do want the community to be open to all like my omnivore friends and family I have been trying to get to join. My suggestions would be to have someone with a background in the animal liberation movement write the posts/articles that are related to animal rights. Since everyone is at different stages of learning including abillion I suppose, maybe it’s better for the app not to promote a certain stance on the subject that we should all follow. Maybe just post the facts because the facts don’t lie so I guess that’s how we can agree more. 4 likesReply

lordvader I don't understand how one can be vegan and support farming animals. It defeats the whole purpose, does it not? 3 likesReply
