What better thing to pair a protein with, than Tasty Bite’s rice pouches. This one

is their organic sticky rice, perfect for sushi, but can be eaten with almost anything. Seen in the last photo, it is paired with Hodo’s Curry Nuggets (check out my review of that from earlier today!).

Definitely sticky and light, this package of rice can be heated up in the microwave or stovetop (just add a couple of tablespoons of water for stovetop cooking). Once hot, you will have a nice aromatic filler to your main dish. It is quick and easy, taking from 90 seconds to under five minutes to prepare.

A pouch of rice, equivalent to one serving, gives you 340 calories. There’s no fat, 78g of carbs (well, it *is* rice), and 6g of protein (did you know that rice has protein? I didn’t.)

Priced at $2.79 at Whole Foods and $2.59 at Stop & Shop.

Es una buena opción cuando viajas y tu hotel tiene un microondas. Sólo lo calientas

un momento y está listo para servir.

Apparently my college-student brother uses these #lazyvegan #microwave instant rice pouches from time to time.

He’s definitely not vegan, but the laziness runs in the family. He left a couple behind on his last visit, and they came in handy when I ran out of leftover rice for work lunch. Honestly, I’m not super comfortable with them because it seems like too much waste (plus I generally avoid microwaving plastic if I can help it,) but I get the convenience if you only need a small serving of #rice. Sometimes it just doesn’t make sense to wash a whole pot, or you might not have time to wait on the rice cooker.

I was concerned that the rice wouldn’t cook properly — perhaps the grains would be dry and hard, or maybe soggy and gummy. Fortunately, after 90 seconds, the pouch was cooked through more or less evenly! The #organic sticky rice was soft and chewy — not as good as homemade, but definitely edible. Not something I’d use again if I can help it, but it’s an option if you’re in a pinch.

This #microwave #whiterice is super easy to make but not super flavorful. It was also

a little dry so I added vegan butter and veggies to dress it up a bit. Good option in a pinch but pretty bland.
