Ben & Jerry's

#recyclable, #palmoilfree, #fairtrade

I had heard very good things about the vegan Ben & Jerry’s ice creams, this is actually the first flavour I try.

It’s a two-in-one type of #icecream. The bottom layer is a #raspberry ice cream with chocolate #cookie swirls and chunks of #oreo cookies. (Probably the off-brand kind but y’know) The layer on top is a whipped ice cream that’s topped with #caramel sauce and #chocolate chunks.

There is a lot going on here! The raspberry ice cream has a decent flavour of #raspberries, it doesn’t taste exactly like natural fruit to me but it’s not super artificial either. The taste of the #cookies also get to come through a lot, especially the bigger chunks and there is a good amount of them. Love the creamy #vanilla taste of the top layer! The caramel #sauce is rich and gives a really nice sweet taste to it, the #darkchocolate chunks really didn’t feel that dark at all.

I enjoy the combination of textures from this, besides the fact that the top layer melted a lot quicker haha. The top layer is very soft and easy to scoop out straight from the freezer. Very light and smooth with some air bubbles, something like a mix between soft serve and whipped #cream but lighter. The raspberry layer is like regular ice cream in density, it is tasty but it’s not an exact replica for the dairy-based ones. It does not have the same level of rich creaminess, which makes it a bit difficult to easily scoop out. It does feel nicely indulgent though!

The ice cream is #almond based and it is #palmoilfree. The sugar, cocoa and vanilla is #fairtrade. The packaging is made out of 92% plantbased materials and is #recyclable.

💵Their desserts are usually really expensive, around 100 NOK for one pint. I got this one on sale for 70 at Spar which is better of course, but still not affordable.

I am not the biggest fan of #berry flavoured ice cream, but I did like this! Really liked how they didn’t hold back on any of the add-ins. I would like to pick up another flavour to try someday!

helena12345 100NOK???? I know Norway is on the expensive side but???? That’s a felony. I am in shock.
Well Norway is atleast doing a hell of a good job in making unhealthy things expensive! @brentvda 2 likesReply
