Review of Vegan Italian Bolognese Ravioli - Trader Joe's by kyu
I promised @unejanie more #pasta photography, so here we are! (This one looks a bit wacky, but it tasted good.) I’m thrilled that Trader Joe’s has finally come out with new vegan #ravioli — nothing against the Spinach & Cashew variety, but I find this one much more exciting.
The filling has a strong, rich sun-dried tomato flavor — perfect for a #tomatolover like myself. The #meatalternative bolognese is interesting: rather than using TVP crumbles, they’ve gone the more natural route with #lentils and #mushroom. Although I was initially skeptical, I have to admit, I really liked it! It wasn’t super meaty but certainly filling and satisfying. The fresh pasta texture was lovely, too, and I’m happy to report that everything stayed intact while boiling.
I served the ravioli with a silken tofu cream sauce; in hindsight, this perhaps wasn’t the most obvious pairing, especially since I used an edamame-flavored block (hence the fluorescent green color.) In spite of all of my fumbling in the kitchen, it was still incredibly delicious! I loved the ease of preparation, too — anything that boils up in 3 minutes is a winner in my book. #lazyvegan
I will absolutely be getting these again! I think they deserve a spot on my best of Trader Joe’s list, too. So scrumptious and, at just $3.99, very affordable for vegan stuffed pasta. Worth a try if you can find it in your area!
