Review of Tamarillo - The Harvest (pop-up stand) by veronicagroen
My first #tamarillo fruit. I had to ask the lady at The Harvest table, a stand at Fourways Farm Market, how to eat/use it, I did not even had an idea what it was, it looked like some kind of tomato.
The #tamarillo is a small tree or shrub bearing and egg-shaped fruit. The fruit is something between a ๐
, passionfruit and guava. The guava I can see in the flesh just below the skin. Tomato, you can taste clearly with a sweet, hard to describe gel-like centre, I suppose the passionfruit part. It was interesting and weird at the same time, nothing familiar except the taste of tomato, it was unique and delicious in its own right. I scooped it out the same way you would eat a ๐ฅ.
I am definitely collecting seeds to grow a scrub.
The landscape around this market was stunning, it felt like I was on holiday. I tried to take a photograph of all the ๐ but it was impossible. Some of the ๐ took offense and immediately warned me. #fortheloveofchickens
#tomato and #passionfruit got married and had a #guava
