It’s the moment we’ve all been waiting for. We have officially launched our Marketplace!
This is where you can buy and sell vegan and sustainable items from other members – that includes everything from homemade food, preloved items and crafts made by community members just like you.
We’re popping a celebratory drink here at abillion HQ in Singapore. After all, we’ve been carefully weaving in all the magic of abillion into this awesome new feature and making sure our mission to change the world takes front and center.
How? Every purchase you make will earn you credits to donate to your favorite non-profit organization. This is doing good in a way that’s never been seen before – in fact, we’d wager to say that there’s no other platform like this in the world. Think of it as an Amazon for sustainability where your purchases not only go towards aiding your vegan life, but also towards compassionate causes.
This is our way of building a circular economy, to unite likeminded changemakers and make going or being vegan not just easy, but a whole heap of fun.
The only caveat? Right now, Marketplace is available for our community in 42 countries, as we’re ironing out the finer wrinkles. We expect to roll this out to other key markets in the next few months.
Here’s more juicy details for Marketplace in a nutshell:
1. Every member can buy and sell items
There is no special account that you have to register. At launch, as long as you’re based in one of the listed countries on the bottom, you can buy and sell (vegan) items. Simply be sure to update your app to the latest version.
2. Every purchase will earn you impact credits
If you ask us, profit can go hand in hand with purpose and we’re sprinkling a little more of our abillion magic into this new feature. Every item listed on marketplace has an impact credit attached to it. Sellers can choose how much of the purchase price goes to charity. Then, when you buy the item, you earn the impact credit to donate to the non-profit organization of your choice.
3. All items listed will be vegan
It’s one of our criteria for being on abillion. That means you won’t be finding old leather items even if they contribute to the circular economy.
