Florence is without any doubts one of the Italian cities that needs to be visited at least once in a lifetime, but to explore it from a culinary point of view as a vegan has been a real challenge. Luckily, “all’antico vinaio” saved my lunch! There are not vegan options on the menu but you can choose the ingredients to fill your schiacciata (the typical focaccia bread of the city) that you can eat easily wandering around the streets or just chilling on the steps of the church of San Remigio as I did. To fill my schiacciata I chose sundried tomatoes, marinated vegetables, rucola, grilled eggplant with spicy oil and caramelized onions. Totally recommended!
