Look at what made a comeback in South Africa! 🤩 It’s the Fry’s Pops (now Popcorn 🍿) but better than I remember and minus the fruit chutney sprinkles. The batter is really nice, it has a very slight crunch to it, while also still being soft, if that makes any sense 🤪 seasoned well, it is on the saltier side and there’s also quite a bit of pepper coming through.

They recommend deep frying it for the best results, but I airfryed everything and it turned out great. I haven’t had KFC in over a decade, but I used to be a big sprinkle pops fan until I couldn’t participate in that cruelty any longer. If you were a sprinkle pops fan too, I definitely recommend this, it resembles it quite a bit, but thankfully is void of the cruelty.

💰: R70 (I think it’s very pricey for the amount that you get, based on this alone, I’m not sure I will buy this again very soon but I’m sure I will buy it again in the distant future).

ctfloof it’s the soft texture that makes me think twice about buying it - a lot of Fry’s products have become more ‘mushy’ in texture and me no likey mushy 🫤6 likesReply

jeanne-marie I hear you, I don’t think this has a mushy texture, but it’s on the soft side (it’s very difficult to describe the texture 😂 it’s a lot firmer than what I remember from the original pops, also slightly chewy, but in a good way) - it’s not a cheap purchase, so it’s not worth getting if there’s a possibility that the texture might put you off, but I think if you were to get this eventually, maybe try the deep fry method? I can only imagine that it might be a lot crunchier that way. 4 likesReply
