VEGAN

Fry's Family Food

The Fry's range of food is the equivalent to 'Gen X' had it hard for vegans: Fry's were once the ONLY meat alternative we had back in the day. I think we distinguish BF (Before Fry's) and AF (After Fry's) as the dividing line between generations of non-meat eaters in South Africa. Fry's hasn't always managed to keep pace with all the new products coming into the market (these are an exception), but it has managed to keep its quality. These sausages are really, really good. What a great recipe upgrade! I have bought another packet. And they cook from frozen (big plus). Slightly spicy and a much changed texture from their older kinds. Proof that competition (at times) can be good. Keep going, Fry's. We love you. ❤️ #proudlysouthafrican

jeanne-marie Fry’s definitely paved the way for all the newer vegan options in South Africa 👏🏻 it’s always nice to be reminded of how far we’ve come. 3 likesReply
ctfloof agreed - they paved the way but have lost flavour and texture along the way and I’d say it’s after the sale of the family business - some of their products are still great - others not so much sadly (my opinion) 3 likesReply
ecobunny These were really good, though. A great improvement from the originals in taste and texture. 2 likesReply
